About You
The Infinityland Futurist in Residence program is for bold changemakers—activists, educators, organizers, journalists, and more—dedicated to shaping a brighter future by driving positive change, fostering innovation, and empowering communities to thrive.
The Retreat
As a Futurist in Residence (AIR), you’ll have the unique opportunity to host your own all-inclusive impact retreat in Costa Rica, where you can immerse your community in your transformative work while we handle all the logistics, so you can focus solely on creating and inspiring change.
Your 8-day retreat features activities like:
Surfing the Caribbean Sea 🏄🏽♀️

Hiking and ziplining through rainforests 🌿
Sightseeing jungle wildlife 🦜
Coffee and chocolate farm tours 🍫
Traditional arts, crafts, and language immersion 🖌️

🌴 All-Inclusive 1-Week Retreat
We take care of all the logistics including accommodations, meals, excursions, and more—while you focus on creating change and enjoying the adventure.

🎨 Host Curated Workshops
You’ll lead 3 workshops in your impact field for your guests and receive a $500 budget for materials.

💰 Receive a Stipend
You'll receive $2,500-$5,000 as your stipend based on the number of participants who register for your retreat. Participants 10 minimum - 20 max

Eligibility
Requirements to Be Selected as an Infinityland Futurist in Residence (FIR):
Expertise in Your Craft: Demonstrate a strong foundation in your impact field. We’re seeking visionary changemakers and creators with expertise in disciplines such as:
Social Impact & Activism (community organizing, policy advocacy, etc.)
Environmentalism (sustainability, climate change activism, eco-innovation, etc.)
Education & Pedagogy (curriculum development, transformative learning, etc.)
Technology & Innovation (equitable AI, sustainable tech, data for good etc.)
Health & Wellness (mental health advocacy, holistic health, etc.)
Social Entrepreneurship (building social enterprises, impact investing, etc.)
Diversity & Inclusion (DEI advocacy, cultural equity, etc.)
Urban Planning & Architecture (future cities, sustainable architecture, etc.)
Space Exploration and Innovation (aerospace, astronomy, astrobiology, space policy, etc.)
Ethics & Human Rights (humanitarian work, justice systems, etc.)
Journalism & Investigative Reporting (truth-telling, social justice journalism, etc.)
Cultural Preservation & Innovation (protecting heritage, cultural future, etc.)
Community Building & Activism (grassroots movements, changemaking initiatives, etc.)
Futurist Thinking & Strategic Forecasting (trend analysis, long-term planning, etc.)
Emerging Fields that inspire and impact communities
Proven Impact: Demonstrate how your work inspires and uplifts your community or audience. Share examples of how you’ve made a positive impact through your work.
Commitment to Recruit and Market: Be prepared to actively recruit 10-20 participants for your retreat by engaging with your network to inspire them to join. You’ll create original marketing materials (images, videos, etc.) to promote your retreat across social media, newsletters, press, and other platforms that you choose. While we’ll support your efforts through cross-promotion via our marketing channels (social media, newsletter, and website) and provide additional promotional materials, your unique content will be essential in motivating participants to register and ensuring a successful experience.
Vision and Creativity: Show us your unique perspective and vision for how your retreat will be a transformative and inspiring experience for your guests.
Commitment to Leading Workshops: Plan and lead three impactful workshops during your retreat. Workshops should align with your impact expertise and provide a hands-on, enriching experience for your participants to learn directly from you.
Strong Communication Skills: Be confident, caring, and consistent in presenting your ideas, communicating with participants, and collaborating with our team to curate an unforgettable retreat experience.
Reliability and Professionalism: Meet deadlines for program requirements, including submitting materials, engaging in promotional activities, and preparing for your retreat.
Adaptability and Openness: Be ready to embrace a blend of adventure, cultural immersion, and wellness activities as part of the retreat experience. Demonstrate ability to stay flexible as needed for necessary program adjustments caused by weather, logistics, or other unforeseen circumstances.
Have a Valid Passport: You must hold a valid passport that will not expire within six months of the trip and be ready to travel internationally.
Eligibility to Attend Future Events: Select FIRs will be invited to attend future events such as the Martha's Vineyard African American Film Festival, Art Basel, SXSW, and other notable gatherings to be announced. You may have the opportunity to speak, exhibit your work, or participate in other engaging activities that showcase your creativity and impact as an Infinityland representative.

Retreats run Sunday to Sunday
Your retreat will be 8 days & 7 nights
Your retreat participants will pay $3,500 tuition and payment plans are available for them
